We are seemingly just three weeks away from Apple unveiling its new iPhone 16 lineup that is set to replace the iPhone 15 at the top of the firm’s smartphone range, if rumours hold true. Excitement is rising for what Apple has in store, and that feeling of anticipation has been heightened thanks to a new leak from a reliable source.

Apple leaker Apple Hub has posted on X a new collection of rumoured specs of all four alleged iPhone 16 models: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. It shows everything from supposed screen size, chipset and battery size but is also one of the first leaks we’ve seen that claims to know the iPhone 16 series’ prices.

We should take these prices with a pinch of salt given they are preceded with the ‘approximately equal to’ symbol, denoting Apple Hub is not one hundred percent confident in the figures. But their approximations give us an interesting insight into what Apple could be thinking when it comes to pricing its 2024 iPhones.

In US dollars, here is the leaked pricing for the iPhone 16 series:

  • iPhone 16: $799
  • iPhone 16 Plus: $899
  • iPhone 16 Pro: $1,099
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max: $1,199

These prices are the same that Apple currently sells its iPhone 15 lineup for in the US, save for the iPhone 15 Pro, which costs $999. If accurate, this leak shows Apple could raise the price of its smaller Pro phone by $100, putting a $300 gap between the ‘regular’ and Pro iPhones.

If the iPhone 16 costs $799 – and hopefully keeps its UK pricing of £799 – that would fare well given it should be able to run Apple Intelligence, the latest AI features Apple showed off at its WWDC event in June. It surprised the tech world by saying that out of all existing iPhones, only the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max will be compatible with the new tools, but rumour has it all four new iPhone 16 handsets will be able to run it.

Apple Hub suggests the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will run a new Apple A18 chipset, with a new A18 Pro in the Pro models. The leak also backs up the rumour that all four iPhones will have different screen sizes this year, a change from the last couple of years when the smallest regular and Pro were the same size and the Plus and Pro Max were the same.

Disappointingly but predictably, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are said to keep 60Hz displays. Looking at rivals, the £799 Samsung Galaxy S24 and £799 Google Pixel 9 both have smooth 120Hz refresh rates that you’ll only find on Pro branded iPhones.

We also note that the Pro iPhones are said start with 256GB storage this year, but Apple Hub thinks the regular 16 and 16 Plus will be stuck with an increasingly paltry 128GB. It’s also curious that the iPhone 16 Pro is said to have the smallest battery size of all four phones.
